"Better late than never"

Dave Armstrong Dave showed a turned pen.

The pen was turned from curupay (Patagonian rosewood) and finished with walnut oi'

Gordan Munn Gord showed us two items, one of willow and the other of big leaf maple.

The willow bowl is finished with walnut oil and carnauba wax.

The second item was a bowl of big leaf maple.

It is finished with walnut oil and carnauba wax.

Vic Schapansky Vic showed us a segmented bowl.

It is made of butternut and purpleheart and finished with teak oil.

Mel Genge Mel showed us two items, The first was a yarn bowl.

It is made of green ash and finished with Watco oil and buffed.

Mel's second item was a set of French rolling pins.

They are made of cherry, sanded to 320 grit, buffed and finished with butcher block oil.

Zak Hauser.Zak has been experimenting with colouring oak.

Zak has used iron acetate to product an almost black colour, but hot water and baking soda produces a warmer colour. He provide us with samples to look at.

Kevin Brehon. Kevin has been producing kumiko items with a 2 inch pitch. He has decided to try other pitches.

The apple and rosewood napkin holder was built with a 2 1/2 inch pitch and finished with shellac

The second piece was a necklace with a 7/8 inch pitch. it is of spruce and walnut. Kevin mentioned that the smaller parts are harder to work with.

Glen Friesen. Glen showed us a decorative plate with stand.

The plate is of bubinga, with white mother of pearl. The stand is ebony with gold mother of peral inlay.
